Visual Studio Web App for the Cloud

In order to create a web application to run in the Cloud on Microsoft Azure, you'll need to load Visual Studio 2010.

Click on New Project.

Select 'Cloud'.


After you name your project and solution, you'll see the following screen...


Click on the 'Download Windows Azure Tools to initiate the downloading of Azure files which will help you debug locally.  This will simulate the exact environment which will run up in the Cloud.


Click on the 'install the SDK' link...then select your version of Visual Studio (2010 or 2012)...


Click Run...


Preparing to Install...




Accept...





And there you have it!  Ready to begin coding!

And next you'd have to establish an account in the cloud at Microsoft Azure:

Be sure to view this link in order to Run the project...


Next, be sure that your IIS is installed and running...

Windows Azure Tools: Error: IIS is not installed
Windows Azure Tools: Error: Unable to find nativerd.dll. Please verify that IIS is installed properly.
Windows Azure Tools: The system is missing a prerequisite to execute the service. Please see the release notes.

Next, be sure to set your default project...



And press F6 to build and F5 to run and presto, a c# web sample app, Azure style...
